Career Support for Immigrant Physicians

You dedicated your career to medicine. We want to help you practice again. While relicensing in the U.S. can be complicated, the International Institute of Minnesota aims to make it easier. Our International Medical Graduates program provides internationally trained physicians with guidance and financial support, at no cost to you, so you can overcome barriers like exam fees, credential evaluations and applying for Minnesota residencies.

Our goal is to help doctors like you work again in the field you care most about. If you choose not to relicense, we can help you explore alternate medical careers.

How the Program Works

Services and financial support include:
  • One-to-one career and academic advising
  • Study support (exam materials and review courses)
  • A support group with other participants
  • Licensing exam fee assistance
  • Professional networking opportunities
  • Employment navigation and career services
  • Financial coaching
Eligibility Requirements

  • Born outside the U.S.
  • U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident
  • Graduated from medical school outside the U.S. or Canada
