Refugee Services Volunteer Coordinator
About This Position
The Refugee Services Volunteer Coordinator is a full-time position that will recruit, train, and support volunteers in the Refugee Services Department’s Bus Buddy, Housing Set-Up, and Mentor volunteer programs. In addition to supporting the existing volunteer programs, the Volunteer Coordinator will collaborate with the Director of Refugee Services to develop a new Co-Sponsorship Program. The Volunteer Coordinator will train and support volunteers and work closely with the Refugee Services staff members and clients to ensure that volunteers provide responsive, culturally informed support. Clients include newly arrived refugees, foreign-born survivors of human trafficking, and other New Americans.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with IIMN’s Volunteer Manager to recruit new volunteers and retain existing volunteers
- Develop and update volunteer training materials
- Conduct volunteer training for Bus Buddies, Housing Set-Up Volunteers, Mentors, and Co-Sponsors
- Provide timely and frequent communication with volunteers, staff members, and clients who are participating in volunteer programs
- Monitor, track, report volunteer hours
- Collaborate with Director of Refugee Services to develop a Co-Sponsorship program
- Communicate with clients about volunteer matches; schedule Bus Buddy appointments; and conduct post-program surveys
- Collect program evaluations from volunteers
- Write program reports with Director of Refugee Services
- Collaborate with Communications Team on writing posts for social media and IIMN newsletters
- Enter case notes into program database(s)
- Work with IIMN’s Volunteer Manager to ensure compliance with IIMN’s volunteer policies, onboard volunteers, and host appreciation and recognition events
- Other duties as assigned

Additonal Requirements
- Commitment to the human rights and general welfare of refugees and immigrants
- At least two years of relevant work experience
- Strong interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, multicultural environment, take initiative, work independently, and prioritize multiple simultaneous needs
- Bilingual in English and Arabic, French, Karen, Oromo, Pashto, Somali, or Spanish preferred
- Experience managing volunteers preferred
- Must have a valid driver’s license, insurance, and own car and be willing to transport clients in your vehicle
- Fully vaccinated for COVID-19
- Use of manual dexterity, tactile, visual, and audio acuity.
- Use of repetitive motion, prolonged periods of sitting, and sustained visual and mental applications and demands.
- Occasional lifting (up to 25 pounds), bending, pulling, and carrying.
